Koura Taisha shrine

Koura Taisha shrine is the most venerated shrine in Chikugo Province, and was well-established in the area of present-day Kurume City by the end of the 7th century.
The shrine is thought to have been founded in 400 AD.
The Honden (main shrine), Heiden (votive offerings hall), and Haiden (oratory) are each among the largest Shinto shrine buildings in Kyushu, and all three are designated as nationally important cultural properties.
In addition, various valuable assets such as the Mousou Kinmei Bamboo Forest (a designated national natural treasure) and the Koura-san Kougo Stone (ruins of the ancient mountain castle, which is a designated national cultural property) are also preserved here.
