Sakasedani hydrangeas bloom around the Sakasedani Yakushido temple, where the pure spring water has been selected as one of the 100 best waters of Fukuoka Prefecture.
Water from the sacred spring on the precincts of the temple has been said to be effective against skin diseases since ancient times, and worshippers come from far and wide to bottle the water for home use.
This site is also famous for its waterwheel soba noodles, made with the temple's underground spring water and buckwheat flour milled using waterwheel power.
