Yame-Fukushima’s white-walled townscape
Many of the townhouses in Yame-Fukushima were built as storehouses with mud-covered walls. About 150 such traditional buildings, which combine the characteristics of merchant houses and craftsmen’s shops and which were built from the 1830s to the 1930s, can be seen along the area’s old loop road.
